Update, 8 November: the 1.0.27 customer package incorrectly rejected the November game build. Install 1.0.28 to fix player loading. Read the correction.
The new Cricket Captain 2026 v26.5 release changed how the game stores and handles some of its data. CC Editor 1.0.27 restores compatibility with that release, Steam build 26457429, and brings the tools we have been testing back into the Editor.
Player and team tools updated
Player names, dates of birth, abilities, nationalities, senior statistics, injuries, retirements, roles and preferences have been updated. Create a Player and Player Database bulk changes are included, alongside finances, squad condition, squad changes, player releases, coaching sessions and Auto Coaching.
Transfer players directly to a team
Choose one player or select a group in the Player Database, then transfer them to a domestic team. Preview the move before applying it, with Undo available in the same editing session. Full destination squads can expand automatically, up to 60 players.
Fantasy Draft and custom names
Create a draft, release the existing squads, select your players and apply the completed teams. The Editor now displays custom team names shown in CC26. CC26 itself shares in-game team renames across careers; the Editor reads those names without writing its shared names file.
Second XI Records, ratings and Job Offers
All three Second XI formats are available in the read-only Records tab. The in-game Ability / Contracts view and its filters have been updated, as have end-of-season Job Offers selection and saving.
Fixtures are back
Browse and filter schedules, add bilateral international series or three-team limited-overs tournaments, and extend bilateral Test series to a three-Test minimum or five Tests. Longer series are never shortened. The preset applies across Test countries, rather than targeting just one pair.
The Test preset needs a fresh career saved on 1 April. Review the preview before applying, then use Save Only in CC26. Changes use that career’s private future schedules without replacing shared game templates. Keep the Editor attached when returning to the edited career.
Competition options and reliability
Franchise removal and expanded youth names have been updated for v26.5. Franchise removal affects the edited career. After restarting CC26, load that career and reapply removal before continuing. This release also fixes issues with season rollover, restoring private fixtures and stale selected XIs following squad changes.
Before you update
Keep a backup of your save. Player and team editing require an offline Easy or Very Easy career; Normal mode supports View and Fixtures. Second XI statistics editing and Job Offers ratings remain unavailable.
Franchise Champions League, World League, 12 Team World Test Championship, English Minor Counties and Create your own league remain temporarily unavailable while work continues. Keep existing custom saves and their recovery files.
